House Guest

On July 21, 2008, I received this e-mail from a good friend at the church. I did not include the extensive list of others that also received this e-mail because I of course was the only person to fit the bill!!!!

Hello Everyone;

I was contacted today by the Baylor Grapevine Hospital, (they told me they contacted us instead of GRACE because the lady is Catholic) they have a lady there by her daughter’s beside that is in ICU, this lady is here on a hardship visa from Mexico as her daughter is gravely ill and they are not sure if she will pull thru, the daughter is in her early 40’s. The mother does not have anywhere to stay and the hospital staff realized she had been living in the waiting room for the past 4 days as her daughter is from Minnesota and was just visiting friends in Carrolton when she became ill. The mother hasn’t any money and the hospital has given her food vouchers for the cafeteria, if any of you know of someone who wouldn’t mind letting her stay with them for a few days that would be great, she only speaks Spanish so that is going to eliminate some of us as I’m sure she could really use a friend to talk to right now as well, If we are not able to find a family for her to stay with, I am going to put her up in a hotel for a bit, I can only do that for so long though, she mainly just needs somewhere to sleep and someone able to take her back and forth from the hospital, I would also reimburse a family for gas and food as well, and would gladly put her in my home if any of us here spoke Spanish! Please let me know if you know of someone willing to “adopt” her for a few days to a week, my home number is: 817-283-8767 and my cell is : 817-271-5246 I figured I’d just email everyone to put all of our heads together on this one!!!!! Also if I could also ask if we could all pray for her and her daughter, God Bless, Mary

Agropina (Pina) stayed with us for 3 weeks. Her daughter Margarita, had an emergency amputation of her left leg on 7/23/08 and against all odds recovered enough to fly back to her home and husband in Minnesota on August 15, 2008. Agropina was so sweet. She spoke absolutely no English!!! She loved being around the kids and having a place to stay, and we truely enjoyed having her. I am proud to say that I am once again fluent in spanish, if you don't pay too much attention to grammar.
